The Art of Neutral – Whole Home Renovation in Goonellabah, Northern Rivers

A 20 year old home with great bones was entirely updated for this young family, including a modern kitchen, luxury bathrooms, space remodelling, updated cabinetry, new bi-fold doors x3, flooring updates and two-tone paint throughout.

Modern Scandi Meets Warm Timber

The owners of the home wanted to maximise the expansive garden views and modernise the features. Key changes included:

  • Updating the Master Suite – A new walk-in robe and new ensuite.

  • Updating the Family Bathroom - Comfortable and beautiful

  • Opening Up The Living Space - A new layout with new doors onto the garden

  • A Modern Kitchen - That both looks stunning and works like a charm

Relaxed Luxury in the Main Bedroom

The existing main bedroom had the ensuite updated and a new walk-in robe fitted featuring:

  • Custom joinery with his and her dressing spaces

  • Ensuite featuring custom-built floating vanity, styled shaving cabinet, recessed mood lighting, under-floor and towel rails heating.

  • New tiling featuring a stunning green mosaic feature wall

A Family Bathroom That Feels Like a Palace

The bathroom needed to be both practical and comfortable, and the renovation over-delivered, producing something grand and luxurious for the whole family, featuring:

  • A custom-built vanity with an engineered stone top

  • Double shower, each with rainhead and handheld shower options

  • Giant freestanding ‘Victoria + Albert’ bath, along with handshower

  • Underfloor and towel rail heating, heating fan & fan exhaust

  • White timber plantation shutters and curved mirror

  • Warm LED strip lighting hidden in shower and bath recesses

  • Separate in-wall toilet with added new handbasin vanity and backlit mirror, creating a complete standalone powder room

A Kitchen Renovation At The Heart of the Home

Creating what is truly a nourishing space, this new kitchen was designed for cooking enthusiasts and for the family to gather. It was the centrepiece of the new living space, and featured:

  • An updated layout to modernise the space and provide extra utility, including new timber flooring to match the existing throughout the home

  • Engineered stone splashbacks and benchtop, with mirrored waterfall edge

  • Two-toned cabinets with both durable 2pac surfaces and warm timber finishes as a feature

  • Appliance nook with bifold doors, oversized pantry and extensive storage

  • All new appliances, including German double oven, German stovetop and a silent range hood. Double-door fridge with filtered water.

  • Matching built-in buffet with further storage and a large storage cupboard in timber finish

  • Under-counter strip lighting throughout

A Living Space That Came Alive

One of the most beautiful features of this home was the lush garden backing onto a nature reserve; however, because of the original internal walls and small windows, the view was minimal. The very start of the project included remodelling the living space to let the garden views come right into the home. The whole home got a makeover to expand the living space into the outdoors and featured:

  • Removal of dividing wall in the living space, including timber floor and ceiling repairs (it looks like it was never there!)

  • Removing 3 sliding windows to create space for 3 bifold doors that open up onto a brand new travertine tiled patio, with a new pool and outdoor entertaining area

  • Other changes included repainting the home throughout, installing electric blinds, new ceiling fans and front porch patio lighting + tiling in travertine.

The best part of this extensive project was being able to work around the family as they continued on with life as usual. Our teams split the job into phases, which meant the client could renovate while living at home. All care was taken to ensure that the space remained clean and operational, and our team were respectful at all times.

The end result is a luxury oasis on an expansive block of land right in the heart of Goonellabah.

Testimonial

Joost and his home reno team did a brilliant job on our total home makeover renovation. The project lasted 12 months and covered two bathroom renovations, a new kitchen build, a laundry fitout, a new patio build, as well as structural renovations such as removing an internal wall and transforming some existing windows into bi-fold doors.

One of the things I appreciated about working with Joost is his care for the surroundings and our family, as we lived in different zones during the different phases of the project. Joost is extremely tidy, respectful and treats the place as if it were his own.

The end result is not just your average home reno, each room is beautifully finished to the highest possible standard. If you are looking to add value to your home speak to Joost.
